Protection of the Holy Virgin

Description: The sculptural image is dedicated to one of the greatest festivals of the Russian Orthodox Church, which was based on the legend about the appearance of the Mother of God in the temple of Constantinople. In the Orthodox tradition, the “cover” and the veil, which the Mother of God holds in her hands, means protection. The figure of the Virgin performed in the traditional manner. She goes to the worshipers, stretching cover over them. From her comes peace and love of neighbor. The sculpture is placed on a pedestal, decorated with engraving on metal and the inscription “Image of the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God”. The sculpture is made in the traditions of old Russian wooden sculpture and represents a new direction - a decorative sculpture made of metal, decorated in the style of Zlatoust steel engraving.
